Water &Wastewater Treatment Plant
Challenge:
A major global client had concerns due to problems with hard rubber lined pipes used for abrasive fluid in water and wastewater management.Adhesion of lining, bubbling of coating between lining & pipe body continued to pose a challenge in the treatment plant.
Approach:
Our Team proposed removal of previous lined material with hydrolysis process. Removing of coating material on pipe by heating & air flushing was proposed due to site constraints. This was then subjected to a test to check for conductivity of the surface &the team noted the failure of the spark test.
Solution:
On acquiring test results the team proposed application of coating under strict guidelines. While a process of chemical adhesion was proposed it was also augmented by the additives and use of autoclave to enhance the adhesive strength.
Outcome:
The solution on undertake on site testing using conductivity and bubbling etc. demonstrated the quality of adhesion and opportunity to rectify application of coating. The Project Team then approved temporary solution to undertake rectification measures off-site. The modified pipe and fittings with specialized coating were installed and plant was commissioned to full operating capacity with minimum interruption.
