Desalination & Power Plant

Challenge:

Servicing a large Desalination Plant with capability of processing1 Million Gallons Per Day (MGPD) desalination water and generating over5MW Power including Reverse Osmosis and Water Transmission assets.Valve disks were adversely impacted due to high level of corrosion stemming from the harsh environment of the desalination Plant. Salt, Sand, Humidity, Wind & Sun were accelerating the corrosion of valves and contributing towards high asset failure rate.

Approach:

Our Team in conjunction with asset owner and local maintenance service provider collected and analyzed the data relating to asset performance. We continued to engage the local team and found a fluoroscope with alternating co polymer to best suite the application and operating conditions.

Solution:

We collaborated with the global specialist and introduced the solution to a prototype that was purpose-built to evaluate the asset performance. We have researched and sourced the best solution to enhance the asset life. Our selection of coating & the appropriate application of the specialized coating delivered the solution to enhance asset life & performance.

Outcome:

This special fluoroscope is widely regarded as one of the most chemically resistant polymers. With a minimum coating thickness of 600 microns, it can be used as coating for ductile iron or stainless-steel discs. This product is now widely used on various desalination plant scoffer ingrate corrosion resistance against chlorides as well as other chemicals and offers solution to many industrial chemical applications.
